What to Bring

Here is the perfect arsenal for catching big bass: Bring three high quality baitcasting / rod set ups.
I recommend the following G Loomis rods for this trip so you can match your brand rod to these models:Bring a 7′ 3″ MossyBack for Carolina rigs and two 7′ medium-heavy IMX model rods for all other presentations, including lipless crankbaits, topwater and worming, is ideal (unless you’d prefer a shorter rod for lipless crankbaits). Depending on the time of year, you may need a Loomis swim bait rod as well. I also like to bring a Shimano Chronarch B Series or Curado Casting Reels spooled with 16-20 lb Fluorocarbon (in green) which works extremely well on El Salto. I typically fish small diameter line but on this water, and with these hard-fighting fish, I prefer 18-20-lb. fishing line.
